Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing is one of the must-do activities which includes the exploration of UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites. The sightseeing to the famous Bhaktapur Durbar Square commences after breakfast. Upon completing the half-day sightseeing, next visit the famous and biggest Boudhanath Stupa. End the day with a visit to the holy Pashupatinath Temple. Relish the sight of ‘evening aarati’ which is magical to witness.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and head to the domestic airport to fly to Lukla in the Khumbu region. The 35-minute flight to Lukla offers picturesque vistas of green hills, rivers, and snow-capped mountains. Landing at one of the world’s extreme airports, Tenzing Hillary Airport is adventurous.

Upon arriving at Lukla, meet the porter, and commence a trek to Phakding with a guide and porter. Walking on the bank of the Dudh Koshi River, pass through the beautiful Chauri Kharka settlement. Cherish the sacred Khumbila peak on the way and continue to trek. Arrive at the beautiful Phakding village and transfer to the lodge. Later, if you wish to you can explore the monastery which is a 20 to 30-minute walk. Visit the monastery and from the monastery vicinity, relish the spectacular views of Lhotse, Thamserku, and Kusum Kanguru.

(Note: The flight schedule varies with the weather conditions. The flight to Lukla is from Ramechhap in the peak months of April, May, October, and November.)

What to expect when flying to Lukla from Manthali Airport, Ramechhap?

Generally, the flights to Lukla operate from Kathmandu. Only in the peak months of April, May, October, and November, to control the air traffic, the flight to Lukla operates from Manthali Airport, Ramechhap. The distance from Kathmandu to Manthali Airport is approx. 130 km or 80.9 miles. In a private vehicle, the drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap takes about 4 hours. Travelers must travel in the early morning (around 3 am) from Kathmandu to Ramechhap, to fly to Lukla. Travelers can also drive to Ramechhap, the day before to fly to Lukla the next day to avoid a hectic travel schedule. Travelers must adjust for accommodations with basic amenities including attached bathrooms as there are no luxury hotels in Ramechhap.

After breakfast, brace yourself, and start to trek slowly on a steep trail. Traverse through a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. Walk through a densely forested trail of pine and rhododendrons to arrive at the lovely Benkar village. From there, traverse a suspension bridge adorned with prayer flags. Adoring the waterfalls and streams continue to trek and arrive at Monjo.

Commence trek to the Sherpa Capital of Namche Bazaar from Monjo. Arrive at the Monjo checkpoint, the gateway to the UNESCO-listed Sagarmatha National Park. A guide handles all the permit processes and then enters the national park. Walk admiring the varied flora and witness some wild animals. Pass through beautiful Sherpa villages and forested trails of pine and rhododendron. Cross the Hillary Suspension Bridge and get a first glimpse of Mt. Everest if the weather is clear. Continue to trek and ascend on a steep trail slowly before reaching Namche.

The Sherpa capital Namche has standard ATM facilities, bakeries, coffee shops, and even clothing stores. Saturday markets in Namche are an attraction where Tibetan traders sell their products from across towns and villages. Witness the Sherpa culture, and immerse in their lifestyle. Relish local Tibetan cuisine and interact with them to better understand their living style in the Himalayas.

Have breakfast, then walk to the ridge leading to the beautiful Syangboche village. On the way, visit Namche Monastery and relish the fabulous views of Mt. Kongde Ri. After a short excursion to the monastery, visit the National Park Museum which offers insight into Sherpa culture and information on diverse Himalayan flora and fauna. From there, continue to walk further for a few hours and arrive at the Hotel Everest View. It is termed one of the world’s highest-situated hotels at an elevation of 3,880 m. The hotel’s Japanese architect looks mesmerizing. The picturesque views and towering peaks in the surroundings allure everyone. The hotel offers phenomenal views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, etc.

Hotel Everest View is one of the most luxurious hotels in the Everest region providing top-notch amenities from accommodation to gourmet meals. There is also an optional side visit to the lovely Khumjung village for interested travelers. Visit the holy Khumjung Monastery popular for its purported Yeti scalp or Khumjung School built by Sir Edmund Hillary’s Himalayan Trust. Interact with the locals to immerse in their local culture.

Return to Monjo descending to the Dudh Koshi River valley. Cherish the beautiful surrounding vistas and pass through the lovely Namche and Jorsale villages. After a few hours, arrive at Monjo.

From Monjo, the trek to Lukla commences after breakfast. Pass the trail following the Dudh Koshi River and descend to the Benkar village. Traverse through the settlements of Phakding, Ghat, and Chablung on ascending and descending trails. Pass through a forested trail and arrive at the Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate. Cherish the last night at Lukla exploring souvenir shops, enjoying folk music, fine cuisines, local drinks, and interacting with locals.

After breakfast, admiring the towering snow-capped peaks and scenic views fly to Kathmandu. Get transferred to the hotel. Later, explore the lively Thamel or Ason markets, or go souvenir shopping. Return to the hotel and pack your goods. Make sure everything is in order and get prepared for your flight to Bhutan the next day.

The extra day in Kathmandu is reserved in case of flight cancelation from Lukla to Kathmandu. If travelers complete their Everest View Luxury trek on a scheduled day, this day can be used for rest. If they wish to, they can explore the surrounding places and local markets. We can provide a guide, and a driver, with a suggested itinerary to explore Kathmandu. Return to the hotel and pack your goods. Make sure everything is in order and get prepared for your flight to Bhutan the next day.

Take a scenic flight to Paro in Bhutan and land at the world’s one of the extreme Paro International Airport. Our guide greets and welcomes you and transfers you to the café/restaurant for lunch or snacks as your preference.

Proceed to Thimphu in a private vehicle admiring the scenic surroundings. Stop halfway to visit the 16th-century Tachogang Lhakhang temple. Cross a bridge to visit the ancient temple and admire the surrounding views from the bridge. Continue to drive to Thimphu and get transferred to the hotel.

Later, begin Thimphu sightseeing with a visit to popular landmarks such as the National Memorial Chorten, Tashichho Dzong, and the Great Buddha Dordenma statue at Kuensel Phodrang.

Drive to Punakha, home to the largest suspension bridge in Bhutan. Explore the magical Punakha Dzong which was built completely without using nails. If you are here around mid-February, don’t miss attending the popular Punakha festival. Then, visit the renowned Fertility Chhimi Lhakhang Temple of Bhutan. Return to Thimphu after completing the Punakha tour.

Overnight Stay: Pemako Hotel, Thimphu

After breakfast, drive to Paro early in the morning and arrive at the foothill of the iconic Taktsang Monastery. The most-visited landmark in Bhutan is popularly called Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The monastery is perched on the Cliff above Paro Valley which holds great historical and cultural significance. A holy Vajrayana Himalayan Buddhist site that is believed to have been meditated by Guru Padmasambhava for more than three years to ward off evil spirits.

A hike to the monastery is demanding but rewarding as it provides splendid surrounding views. Stop halfway for a short break and rest. Make sure to wear appropriate clothes to enter the monastery and strictly follow the guidelines. Hike slowly maintaining your speed as it is at an elevation of 3,120 m. Visit the monastery, and caves, and interact with monks. The peaceful environment of the monastery is surreal to witness. Descend slowly admiring the views after completing the hike. Return to a hotel and the remaining day is free. Explore the local market, or visit nearby attractions.
