The first day in Kathmandu begins with sightseeing around Swayambhunath Stupa. Have breakfast and then, we head towards the stupa. This stupa is popularly known as ‘Monkey Temple’. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Kathmandu Valley from the hilltop. In the surroundings of the Stupa, there are numerous Buddha statues, a big Vajra, small chaityas, a small museum, and monasteries. You can see many monkeys roaming around the premise. The huge spiral stupa with wisdom eyes symbol and beneath is a big white dome looks very impressive. The fragrance of butter lamps and incense creates the surrounding atmosphere more blissful.

Then, visit the Chinese Embassy to apply for the Tibet Visa with all the necessary documents. It is necessary to apply for at least three days before the Tibet visit and Kathmandu is the only International destination to go to Tibet besides China.

Have lunch and we head to Patan Durbar Square for sightseeing. One of the three durbars in the Kathmandu Valley is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ancient King’s palace, ancient old temples, Krishna Mandir, Patan Museum, beautiful courtyards, and artistically beautiful decorations in the architecture are impressive attractions here. Kathmandu Sightseeing: Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Bhaktapur City (B)

We continue the Kathmandu sightseeing. After breakfast, we visit the holy Pashupatinath Temple. One of the most essential Hindu temples in Nepal is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This World Heritage Site temple is situated on the bank of the Bagmati river. In the surroundings of the temple, there is a huge statue of the Ox. Visit the small shrines and other temples, and see the Sadhus.

Not far from there is another World Heritage Site called Boudhanath. This stupa is one of the biggest stupas in Nepal. This holy stupa is of great significance to Tibetan Buddhists. Many people perform the kora ritual by circulating the big dome in a clockwise direction. In the surroundings, you can also visit other monasteries. You can hear Tibetan praying chants, and smell the fragrance of butter lamps and incense which makes the place very delightful. Have lunch and we proceed towards beautiful and ancient Bhaktapur city for sightseeing. This is also listed in the World Heritage site which is one of the best examples of architecture and well-preserved culture. The Durbar Square has several attractions such as the 55-window palace, Nyatpole Temple, Siddhi Laxmi Temple, the Golden Gate, the National Art Museum, and so on. Besides this, get an amazing view of skillful porters making pots, wood carvings, and many handicrafts goods. You can buy some goods if you wish to or like. Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara

We fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara on the scheduled flight. It takes approx. 30 minutes to reach Pokhara. Upon reaching, transfer to the hotel and rest a while. We attend some live music or folk songs and dance performing restaurants. Enjoy the performance, food, and some quality time over there.

Sightseeing in Pokhara city

We wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise. A short drive to Sarangkot in a comfortable private vehicle. From the Sarangkot hill point, witness one of the most amazing views of the sunrise over the panoramic Annapurna ranges and Dhaulagiri. Spend some time there and then, descend and drive back to the hotel. Have breakfast and proceed to the city sightseeing. We visit some famous landmarks such as the International Mountain Museum, Seti Gorge, Gupteshower Cave, and Davis falls. Have lunch and visit the Tal Barahi Lake in the middle of the Phewa Lake. Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Place, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street (B)

Nepal to Tibet by road: You travel via the Gyirung border. You need to get a Chinese Visa and Tibet travel permit in advance. On-arrival Visa is not available at the Gyirung border.

It is best to arrange all documents and permits in advance for Tibet and Nepal overland journey.

What is the approximate cost of a trip to Tibet and Nepal?

The cost of the trip completely depends on you. If you go for a luxurious trip or private tour, then the cost of the trip will be higher. If you go for a budget trip or join a group tour, the trip cost will be slightly lesser.

Tibet trip cost: Tibet tour is only possible through an organized group tour. Solo Tibet travel is not allowed. Since all arrangements are managed by the travel agency and include all accommodation and facilities, the trip cost is slightly higher. Even if you are on budget travel, it is expensive compared to Nepal.

Nepal trip cost: It is economical as compared to Tibet. You can control your expenses and manage them on your own. You can plan the trip as your budget and choose the accommodation and facilities according to it.

As far as the approximate cost is concerned, the per-day cost can range from 100 USD to 500 USD. So, plan wisely and budget accordingly.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tibet tour for international tourists and the borders between Nepal and Tibet, (China) were closed.

On April 7, 2023, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China issued notice to resume national travel agencies and online travel companies to operate foreign inbound group tours and "air ticket & hotel" business, enabling the re-opening of Tibet tourism to all international tourists.

To travel to Tibet, tourists must obtain a Tibet travel permit, which can be acquired through an official Tibet travel agency. Asia Experiences is one such travel agency that can take care of the permit application on behalf of tourists.

As of now, Tourism in Tibet has been still impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, there are restrictions imposed by the Chinese government to prevent the spread of the virus. As of February 2023, the situation in Tibet remains uncertain, and the availability of tourist visas and permits is subject to change.

Currently, China has reopened its borders to foreign travelers with some restrictions. But, the situation is still fluid. A life changing experience – Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan

Dear Netra, After many years of talking about traveling to these 3 destinations, we finally took the jump. What seemed like places so far away on the other side of the world and cultures so foreign to us from the west, at first was a bit daunting. This was the first time ever in our travels that I did not do any research or prepare a detailed itinerary (usually spend an entire month or so organize) Because of the region, we knew this was not possible to do on our own with the logistics of visas, flights, and booking accommodations but also knowing the what to see and where to go when. Your communication was perfect and the itinerary you custom put together for us was more than we expected. It was thoughtful and everyday was well planned. It allowed for rest and nothing was rushed. On top of that, the tour guides who took care of us were incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. We have even become friends with some of them. We could not have had such an immersive special experience without them. We learned about more than just the surface sights but a lot about history, culture, food, religion, politics, and the arts. Our drivers were patient and high skilled in navigating the roads. We will share our travel stories and memories with our friends and family and cannot wait to return again to the region. Excellent Travel Agency, Trustworthy and experienced
