The Ananda Pagoda is one of the most extensive pagodas in Bagan. The Ananda Pagoda festival in its premises is one of the most attended festivals of the whole region. The very first full moon of January is the festival day of the Ananda Pagoda. The cultural components and traditional zats including dance, singing, and a wide variety of ancient plays lighten up the whole area. The sarcastic Anyeints (performing comically in social and political issues) performed here catches the attraction of many locals as well. Similarly, Ananda Pagoda festival also hosts one of the grandest of flea markets selling everything from the local products to handmade goods. The pagoda is decorated and many religious activities take place on its premises. The parade of bullock carts is attended by many locals and visitors here as well.
