Thadingyut Festival of Lights is the second most prominent festival that Burmese people celebrate throughout the country. Also marking the end of the rainy season and the Buddhist lent (3 months period), this festival is celebrated in every pagoda throughout the country. According to the Burmese calendar, the Thadingyut Festival of Lights falls in the month of Thadingyut and is a 3-day event. The monks and novices have to remain on the premises of the pagodas for these days. Decorations are done with candles and feast most auspiciously in the region of Yangon and Inle. Lanterns and candles light up the place with celebrations all around.
