Our second peek at the region's treasures takes us on a further Trans Himalayan flight to Bhutan “The Land of the Thunder Dragon”. Bhutan is the last Shangri-La, basically hidden from the outside world to this day. We begin in Thimphu, Bhutan’s tiny capital, with excursions from our hotel to its important tourist sites. There follow two wonderful days to both Punakha Dzong over the Dochu La Pass, and Bhutan’s National treasure, the Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery. The ornate temple complex is perched precariously on the cliffside of the upper Paro Valley. With our tour Nepal Tibet Bhutan Tour almost complete, we fly back to Kathmandu for a farewell evening meal the following day.
The last stage of the journey starts with a superb flight over the Himalayas to Lhasa, in the heart of Tibet.
