World’s Best Luxury Hotels List in 2026.

For decades, Nepal has attracted adventurers seeking to experience the towering peaks, challenging trails, and a sense of freedom found only in the heart of the Himalayas. But today, the country has achieved something new. It is now home to the world’s finest luxury hotel.

Shinta Mani Mustang, a 29-suite hideaway in the Himalayas, has been ranked the No. 1 hotel in the world by Robb Report’s editors in the “50 Greatest Luxury Hotels on Earth 2026” list. The panel of 24 Travel Masters (experts who advise the world’s most discerning travelers) places this Himalayan gem above some of the globe’s most celebrated luxury properties. Designed by a visionary architect, Bill Bensley, the resort was praised by Robb Report for its breathtaking setting and masterful design. The magazine described it as a sanctuary where sweeping mountain views meet profound tranquility: “the ultimate retreat for the body, mind and spirit.”  Since its opening in August 2023, Shinta Mani Mustang has received several global accolades: from being named one of the “World’s Best Luxury Hotels” in 2024 to winning the prestigious Best Luxury Adventure Hotel award in 2025. It has now claimed the Number One spot on the World’s Best Luxury Hotels List in 2026.

According to Robb Report, guests love not only the hotel’s beautiful design but also its unforgettable experiences. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding, explore ancient Buddhist villages and monasteries, trek through Mustang’s stunning high-altitude landscapes, and experience traditional Tibetan healing therapies.

Shinta Mani Mustang ranked ahead of many famous luxury hotels around the world, including Singita Kwitonda in Rwanda, Hope Lodge in Scotland, Park Hyatt Tokyo in Japan, and Shakti Prana in India. It proves Nepal can compete with the world’s best luxury destinations while offering much more than adventure tourism.

How to Reach Shinta Mani Mustang

  • By Air: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, then take another flight to Jomsom. Please note that flights between Pokhara and Jomsom are highly weather-dependent and may occasionally be delayed or canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions.
  • By Road: Travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara before continuing to Jomsom by private Car or jeep. Although the route showcases breathtaking mountain landscapes, the journey is lengthy and involves rugged Himalayan roads. As a result, it is generally less suitable for luxury travelers who prioritize comfort, convenience, and a relaxed travel experience.
  • By Helicopter: A private helicopter charter from Kathmandu directly to the hotel’s private helipad offers the fastest and most luxurious travel option. While it comes at a premium cost, the journey is remarkably short, comfortable, and convenient, allowing guests to enjoy a seamless Himalayan luxury experience.
