Trashigang Tshechu

Trashigang Dzongkhag, one of the largest districts in the country has its distinct festival for all the villages in the District. The highlight of the Trashigang Tshechu festival is the three-day Tshechu held in Trashigang Dzong during the 7th to 11th days of the 10th month of the Bhutanese calendar. The festival is attended by the Brokpas, semi-nomadic people living in the valleys of Merak and Sakteng, and other ethnic groups living far away also participate in the festival.

The preparation for the festival begins 2 days before the festival and on the festival day, the monks perform the ceremonial ablution. Masked dance is performed during the festival and on the final day of the festival, the old Thongdrol of Guru Tshengyed is displayed.
