In the easternmost district of Bhutan, Trashiyangtse the Chorten Kora festival is celebrated. Dakpa Kora is held on the 15th day of the 3rd-month corresponding to 28th February and Drukpa Kora is held on the 30th day corresponding to 15th March every year.The Chorten Stupa was built by Lama Ngawang Loday in 1740 and dedicated to his late uncle Jungshu Pesan. The stupa is believed to be a copy of Boudhanath stupa in Nepal. It is believed that a young girl was buried alive inside the chorten and a ritual known as Dakpa Kora is performed based on this belief. Every year many people from Arunachal Pradesh known as Dakpas visit the Chorten to encircle the temple.
