This Dochula Druk Wangyel Festival was inaugurated in 2011 in memory of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and the Armed Forces’ victory over Indian insurgent forces residing in southern Bhutan in 2003.
It is an annual festival that is held on the 13th of December at the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang Festival Ground located at Dochula Pass. The Druk Wangyal Lhakhang was built in 4 years (2004-2008). The Lhakhang tributes the service of the fourth King who courageously led the troop alone against the invaders. It also honors the armed forces of the country.
