One of the most prominent Gelugpa monasteries and an institution cultivating eminent monks, Sera Monastery is the center of Tibetan Buddhism. Lying in the North of Lasha Sera Monastery consists of three colleges within it. A complex structure full of architecture and management brilliance Sera Monastery is responsible for some 19 hermitages. Founded by the disciple of Je Tsongkhapa, Jamchen Chojey of Sakya Yeshe of Zel Gungtang in 1419AD.  Sera Monastery holds a long history of Tibet in it.
