The U Bein Bridge or Taung Tha Man Bridge is one of the most photographic places to be in Myanmar. A crossing over Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura, it is the oldest teakwood bridge in the world. Completed in 1851, this Bridge is about 1.2 km in length.

A wooden footbridge of a single lane is a vital infrastructure for the local people here. Once the Ava kingdom moved to Amarapura, Construction of the bridge took place with the woods reclaimed from the Palace. The name U Bein Bridge came as a tribute to the mayor of that time who ordered to construction of this bridge.

The U Bein Bridge bridge is also economically vital for the local people. Every day many people sell souvenirs on the deck. The U-shaped middle portion of the bridge is to withstand the current and also the wind in the Lake. In each season of the year, the Bridge looks different and also uniquely beautiful.
